every pet’s Heaven
So today there was a freezing rain warning in effect which never happened. Or at least it didn’t happen during my dogwalking day. I finished the last dog walk and thought to myself we got through the day with no incident…meaning treacherous walking\driving in a freezing rain storm. I have to learn to never think things are uneventful because the minute I do something crazy happens.
I drop off the first dog in the crew and return to the car. As I open the door the most horrendous smell wafted out. I thought what on earth is that and looked in the back to find dog vomit everywhere. Who ever was responsible had projectile vomited and it was on the doors, walls, plush LL Bean dog bed and worst of all, all over our little Bonnie. She looked at me with these big sad eyes that told me how much she did not enjoy being vomited on with such stinky vomit. I have to say I think Sirrus was responsible due to his height and how far the vomit was spread around. Sirrus also thought it might be a good idea to eat it which is another clue.
So I had quite the mess to clean up. First I cleaned Bonnie, then I had to pull the bed out and it is now in my house being laundered and lastly the walls, doors and floors of the dogmobile have been cleaned. Just like the pooing in the car incident none of the dogs (other than Sirrus and Bonnie who didn’t have a choice) wanted to go near the vomit which was hard to stay away from considering the multiple surfaces it covered.
This past weekend I was introduced to the techniques of the dog whisperer in an effort to curb some behavioural problems in one of the dogs in my care. I have to say he is quite effective. I have ordered 2 of his books and am watching his television shows in an effort to pick up some of his techniques. But a dog whisperer I am not.
Today I did realize my calling or gift to the dog and pussy cat world is my ability to pamper pets. Or as Nat would say in reference to my pussy cats I “coddle” them. Today was once again cold and the temperature was -30c with the wind chill. So as usual I spent the day putting boots on dogs, socks under boots on dogs, winter coats, second winter coats on top, wools sweaters underneath dog coats and dog hoods on many of the dogs before we headed out to walk.
